The Final Verdict(s) + News

As a lot of you know I have been studying Visual Arts at Swinburne for the past year! And it is come to an end! Wow what a year. I managed to pass everything. Well not pass exactly, I got 8 High Distinctions, 3 Distinctions and 4 Credits. Which is fantastic! (For those of you who don't know how Aussie Uni/TAFE scores work, High Distinction is the highest mark range, and Distinction is the second highest and Credit is the third, a Pass (which I got none) is the basic level of passing)! So that's all good news.

In other news I did a two week long work experience like job, with Ange of 3 Fates Media! I was given the chance to photograph 'Short and Sweet' a cabaret, dance, and theater festival! It was amazing and photos will be coming soon!

I'm also saving up for a new computer (as mine is going downhill) and a better grade camera, but it'll be a long time coming at this rate.

So if you want a photoshoot done for Christmas, let me know and we can work something out.

Have a great day everyone!

Red Bennies' 'Bootlegged'

This short description is taken from the Red Bennies events page of 'Bootlegged'!

"Take a trip down the boardwalk to the wild side. This is a Bootlegged world of desire, glamour and danger...

Guys, Dolls, Gangsters and Molls will take you on a journey of illicit enjoyment - so pipe down, pucker up and get out your glad rags. Hitting the stage for your pleasure is a collection of colourful characters sure to get the juice joint jumping. Hoofers, Flappers, Songbirds, Showgirls and so much more. You don't wanna miss this..."

I loved this show so much! And I would see it again every night if I could! Both shows (yes, I have been twice) were different and amazing in their own ways! I just loved everyone in it and how well everything was presented and performed. It was just amazing!

Luna Park: After Dark (Zombie Edition)

As some may know, I work at Luna Park, Melbourne! I currently work in rides but at the time of these photos I worked in a attraction called 'The Circus of Screams'. It was an interactive scary maze that you would walk through and get scared in, a lot. It was great.

On Halloween Luna Park turned into Zombie Central. I thought I had too much blood on and would scare children, upon arriving at work I discovered I didn't have enough.

Here are some of the photos I managed to take during the night!

Zombies are:
(Top Left) Alice B. and Freya T-A.(Top Right) Zander N.
(Second Left) Freya T-A. (Second Right) Alice B.

(Third Left) Mel. B (Third Right) Michael L B.
(Fourth Middle) Zander N. and Alice B.
             (Bottom Middle) Matt H.

The costumes were all made by their wearer, however I helped Zander with his make up!

I swear I didn't throw the clocks away, but where's the time gone?

Wowee! I am finishing uni up in about two weeks. AHHHHHH!!! This is fantastic great, but also very scary!

Next year I will be dedicating more time Thrill (my zine) and everything else, because I won't be going to uni! I plan to find a internship or something similar at a TV/film set and help with photography there as a goal of mine is to be the one who photographs the TV and movie posters! I'll also be working more for Colosoul and Casual Band Blogger for music photography. And hopefully getting in more at Red Bennies/Bottoms Up for burlesque photography!

If you would like to book a photoshoot with me, because I'm sure I would love to do a photoshoot with you, no matter what you want to do, you can contact me at aegurrieri@gmail.com

Also, I have been slack with my Sunday Specials, that should be returning this week, or next!

Hope you're all well and happy!

The Thrill Of Having A Drink!

So this is may seem majorly off topic but!!! It's not.

I would like to now ask you fanfiction readers, how many times in your coffee shop AUs have you read about a character making or drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte? I know I personally read about them in basically all of them, it's always mentioned, and let me tell you, I feel deprived of living life because AUSTRALIA STARBUCKS DOESN'T SELL THEM!!! I know because I asked and they apparently tried a few years back but it didn't work.

So I've resorted to making my own! I've taken a look at a few different recipes and changed them around to create a Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte! (because I don't like coffee that's why chai latte).

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Everything pictured here: (Not pictured: Whipped Cream and Milk)

Butternut Pumpkin (only a half of a half though, and you can use any pumpkin you want but I used this because this is what Mum makes Pumpkin Pie from!)
Brown Sugar
Chai Latte syrup (I suppose you could use powder, but I used syrup this time)
Spices: Nut Meg, Ginger, and Cinnamon
(Not pictured: Whipped Cream and Milk)

A blender, saucepan and wooden spoon (and mug later) would come in handy too.

1. Cut the pumpkin in half, skin it, and cook it until soft (about 5 minutes mine took)

2. Blend together cooked pumpkin, chai syrup, sugar and a little bit of milk, let sit for a little and blend again to make sure it's all mixed well. (don't leave the lid on, because otherwise it'll explode from the heat, so make an air hole, I keep hatch in the lid off part way, but not all the way so it doesn't come out!)
3. Heat up milk, bring to boil so nice and fluffy and then pour into blender and blend it all together again.
4. Mix together the spices in separate bowl (only about 1/2 table spoon of each)
(optional) 5. Whip cream on that mug of delightful pumpkin drink and then sprinkle with spice mixture!

WHAM! BAM! THANK YOU MA'AM!!!

Now you'll notice I didn't use measurements! This is because honestly, that bit if up to you. If you like pumpkin, add more! If you don't like Chai add less! The only thing is the milk to pumpkin ratio shouldn't be over or under. You don't want a milky drink with only a little pumpkin, same as not wanting a thick hard to drink pumpkin thickshake, just add as much as it takes to make it the right consistency! Also with sugar, just sweeten to taste, same with spices and whipped cream!

So ladies and gentlemen, I have to say that tonights endeavour of making a new drink (for me at least) really was a thrill and totally worth it!

"Thrill" IS COMING TO LIFE!!!

Hello everyone!

I've recently been told about this contest and am now working on the first issue of my zine "Thrill" to enter!

I have some some content to put in it already! As a first issue it won't be the biggest thing but it should have some interesting topics! The headers so far are:

Features (x2)
Cosplay Tips (x2)
Review (TV/Movie) (x4 (x2 old, x2 new))
Groups of Melbourne (x3)
Comics (x4 (x2 Marvel, x2 DC))
Artists you mightn't know (x3)

If you would like to have an issue spoken about, think someone should have a feature on them, got a TV/Movie you love but no one knows about, or just any pop-culture issue you want to know more about or talk about, send a message and I'll reply with what we can do to make it work!

-Neitz

ps. Edit: I am changing the name to 'Thrill'. Short and Sweet does the trick.

Sunday Special: Beth G

During a photoshoot earlier this year, I met a wonderful costume designer by the name of Beth! We started talking and soon found out both of us did cosplay and had atended many of the same conventions. Then I saw her costuming skills, was I in awe or what.

Beth graduated from Swinburne Costume for Performance in 2011 and had an amazing final piece where the actors were performing on silk ribbons hung from the ceiling. I didn't know it was her at the time, but it was still one of my favourite parts.

Fast forward to 2013 when we met, we discovered we would both be attending the popular Melbourne convention Supa Nova, we were very happy to agree to meet up and hang out. It was going to be great, then tragedy struck at their groups end when their photographer dropped out and wasn't able to make it to the con. Lucky for them, Beth remembered me and asked me to take photos for them.

Since then I have also photographed her at Manifest and for a uni brief. Here are some of the images we have created together! She has made all of these costumes and I can't wait for more opportunities to work with her.

Whoops!

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to apologize for the lack of posts, it's been busy over here for a bit. I think I'll be doing the Sunday Special every month. So 12 in a year. BUT i'll find other things to write about as well! Sorry this blog isn't being as populated as I hoped.

Hopefully once I finish uni things will calm down in the break before I go back to another course!

So hopefully I'll put some image up tomorrow!

Keep an eye out!

Neitz out!

The Sunday Special: Slinky and Deer

I have decided that each Sunday (until I run out) I will be featuring one (or two) friend(s) of mine who I have photog'd with! I'll tell you a bit about them, their character(s), and what else they do!

To start this off, I'll be introducing my friend Brianna L. and Amy J.

They are two of the coolest people I know. We've been friends since high school and I'm still soooo glad I met them. They're fantastic people.

Bri or Slinky, likes to cosplay many different characters and is a fantastic make up artist. She's been to Canada and successfully completed one of the more experienced make up courses for prosthetics and more. She's always happy to help and also helps me create amazing images.

Amy or Deer, has a wicked mohawk, which I haven't had a chance to get a picture of yet but it will happen. She likes to cross play a fair amount, meaning cosplaying, but cosplaying the opposite gender. Deer is an amazing artist, I wish I had that much skill with a pencil.

Without further ado, Slinky and Deer! (I'll post some singles and doubles!)

This is one of my favourite shoots with them as Fionna (Slinky) and Marshell Lee (Deer) from the canon genderbend episode of Adventure Time!

Nick (Deer) and Ellis (Slinky) from Left 4 Dead 2

And some nice pictures Slinky and I took in the grass at a park one when I got my new lens!

Thank you for reading/looking!
Tune in next month for another friend/character/amazing person!

Les Femmes and the Male Minority

Some of my favourite images that I took at Red Bennies a month ago from 'Les Femmes and the Male Minority'

A fantasy tale set in a world where women are the empowered ones. Travelling through eras of time, fusing together circus, burlesque and dance, Les Femmes is a seductive and tantalising adventure.

Set in an era similar to the Renaissance, the first act reverses the classical role of men and women in royalty. Closely inspired by the 1967 film, 'Prehistoric Women', the second act is a very literal exploration of an Amazonian culture of women, in which the male minority are used solely for labour, and as sex slaves.

The final act takes a more modern turn of the concept, inspired by Stanley Kubrick's 'Eyes Wide Shut'. The males of this act are more willingly entered into a world of BDSM-inspired submission to the females, while the society of women is portrayed more as a cult, a darker turn on the sex party style of the second act.

Les Femmes is brought to you by Danny Golding Entertainment, featuring his Circotic troupe as seen on 'Australia's Got Talent' (2012 semi-finalists), and the top 12 of 2009's 'So You Think You Can Dance'.
